This Week’s Q&A
I need some help. What science or history curriculum do you love? I can’t seem to find anything that doesn’t bore me to tears. My kids are in fourth, fifth, and sixth grade. Any suggestions will help…
My family picked up much of our Science and History “curriculum” at the Science and History museum stores. Often, we got all fired up on some topic and wanted to read more about it. In other words: light the fire first, then let your children each pick out some books, games or activities to extend their interest. Do some experiments! Once they are engaged, depending on age, add age appropriate resources for science and social studies.
(Sometimes your children will get all fired up, but you won’t be. Our son went on a jag about naval battles. I couldn’t have cared less. But I still took him to see ships in the San Francisco Bay and bought books on Guadalcanal.)
Your imagination will be your limit. I hope that you have as much fun creating these activities as your children do using them. YOU can do this! Good luck!
