Printing and Binding Classic Books for Homeschooling

Consider the cost of printer ink, paper and covers before you think of printing these as “Free” books. The cost may be more than buying paperbacks or buying a cheap Kindle for reading purposes only.

I prefer to call them “Classic books” rather than old. These are readily available on the Internet, and I will include posts I have with links to such sites packed with free books.

Only thing I would change in these directions is just to buy paper that already has the holes punched if you want to put the books in a 3-ring binder. Practice first to make sure you have the paper feeding in the right direction, then print the rest of the book.

Also set up the printing so that the binder edge margin is greater than the outside margin. You may need to export the book into WORD or other word processor before doing this.

One benefit is that you can make the font larger and easier to read. For example, if your child has dyslexia, you could change the font into “Dyslexie” before printing. A young, bright reader may be capable of reading great classics, if only the font were larger.

How to Print and Bind Old Books for Homeschooling {Video Tutorial}
One of my favorite things about this digital age is the easy access to old books. They are such a boon to modern homeschooling in so many ways and the price is just right (mostly FREE)! This method creates more study books than those printed and stuck in a 3-ring binder.

Items needed to create the books as described in the above link for the sturdy books.

Put all these items in your Amazon cart. Later remove ones you don’t need.
