Home Schools – Overview from the NM PED
Home schools are operated by a parent or legal guardian of a school-age person who instructs a home study program, including but not limited to reading, language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science. These students are not considered public school students and do not receive credits for the courses, unless the home study program is through an accredited correspondence school.

Home School Operators Procedures Manual
Revised May 2008. The purpose of the Procedures Manual for Home School Operators in New Mexico is to provide parents, legal guardians, and local school district officials direction for implementing the most recent legislation.

Notification of Establishment of a Home School Form
This online form must be completed and submitted to the state superintendent within thirty days of the establishment of a home school and by April 1 of each subsequent year. Written copy of form also available.

Southwest Eclectic Homeschoolers
We invite families in the Durango, Silverton, Cortez, Mancos, and Bayfield areas of Colorado as well as the Aztec, Cedar Hill, and Farmington areas of New Mexico to post any social or educational events or information on this site. We are a loose community of homeschoolers and unschoolers who welcome all regardless of educational methods or religious beliefs.


Aztec Home Schooling
We are not a school – you cannot enroll here. But you can register your program with us. This aids in accumulating statistics on homeschooling. You can order some “How to Homeschool” packets from them. [Note that many homeschool associations give such packets away for free or have them online.]

ABQ Homeschool Park Group
An authentic and welcoming community for homeschooled children and their parents. We are first and foremost a social group. Our primary and unifying activity is a weekly park day.

ABQ Homeschool Science Co-operative
A cooperative group meeting in Albuquerque, New Mexico where all members share, present and discover the world of science with our 5 to 10 year old children.

Albuquerque Home Learners
A diverse, yet unified organization of homeschooling families who work collectively and cooperatively to provide encouragement, support, resources, and both social and educational activities and opportunities to its members and their children.

Albuquerque Unschoolers
Our main goal is to foster a local friendships with like-minded Unschoolers & Radical Unschoolers within Albuquerque. We create and participate in numerous activities each month in Albuquerque and Rio Rancho. But mostly Albuquerque because too many of our members get lost in Rio Rancho.

Our World School Homeschool Co-op
We are an eclectic, welcoming co-op where families create and embrace all kinds of learning from the world around them. We welcome full or part-time homeschooling families with an enthusiastic attitude toward cultivating this wonderful community.

Rio Grande Homeschoolers
Our co-op is intended as a place where all homeschool families are welcome and encouraged to participate in the way they best see fit. Our group currently serves the greater Albuquerque area: Rio Rancho, Albuquerque, East Mountains, Bernalillo and growing.

East of Albuquerque
East Mountain, Moriarty, Estancia Valley

New Mexico Homeschooled Tweens
Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, East Mountains area. Together we will plan activities, play dates, movie, games, and educational events for our 8-13 year old homeschooled kids.

OLE-O.L.E. stands for Outer Limits Educators, referring to those on the Outer Limits of the greater Albuquerque area. This group was started to provide East Mountain homeschoolers with secular and all-inclusive homeschool support.

East Mountain Diversity Homeschoolers
This group is for people that embrace diversity(different religions and beliefs, races, methods of homeschooling, etc.) who homeschool or unschool in the East Mountain Area of New Mexico. We will be having families from Willard, Estancia, Edgewood, Stanley, Moriarity, etc.

An Inclusive, Non-discriminating group of homeschooling families. WEHST Members come from a variety of backgrounds, lifestyles, religions and beliefs and we encourage our children to appreciate and understand those diversities.

Los Alamos

LA Homeschool
The scope of this group includes anything that might be pertinent to homeschooling or children in the Los Alamos area: Los Alamos, White Rock, Jemez, Espanola, Ojo Caliente, Pojoaque, La Cueva, El Rito, Abiquiu and any of the other surrounding areas.

Santa Fe

Home Learning Community of Santa Fe
We are a group of homeschool families in the Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico area. The purpose of this message board is to provide a vehicle for the free, uncensored, and timely exchange of information and ideas regarding homeschooling.

Santa Fe Community School Home Study Program
Umbrella school which provides structure and direction for homeschooling families to maintain comprehensive records and educate their children. Based on those records we issue credits, diplomas and transcripts.

Santa Fe Homeschool Association
A cooperative group of homeschooling families residing in and around Santa Fe. All are welcome to join our friendly group, regardless of homeschool methods, personal philosophies, or religious beliefs.

Other Areas of New Mexico

Deming New Mexico Catholic Homeschoolers
We are faithful to the Holy Father and the Magisterium of the Church. The main purpose of this group site is to organize group get-togethers and events.

Lea County Homeschool Association
We provide two, 8 week, co-op sessions per year for children of all ages in our association. Dues are $10 per family per semester.

Otero County Home-school Educators
We are a diverse, non-sectarian group of homeschool educators from Otero County and surrounding areas, which includes Alamogordo, Tularosa, High Rolls, Cloudcroft, Weed, Sacramento and anyone who thinks they will benefit being a part of this group.

Sandia Lone Scouts New Mexico
We are a small group of homeschoolers, within sight of the Sandia Mountains in Central New Mexico, who prefer to work independantly toward the goals of boy scouting.

Sharing Homes And Resources for Education
SHARE is a support group at Holloman AFB, near Alamogordo; includes military as well as civilian homeschoolers.

South West At-home Teens
This group is for homeschooled and unschooled teens in our local Southwest area (southern NM/ west Texas). We are non-discriminating and inclusive of all at-home teens in the area regardless of religion, learning style, or level.

Southern NM Homeschool Association
Southern New Mexico’s source for park days, field trips, events, cooperative learning and support for homeschoolers in the area. Includes the Deming, Las Cruces, Silver City and Lordsburg areas.
