You have started homeschooling and have the basics covered, but what about identification? Do you have a homeschool ID card? Many homeschool families find that having a homeschool ID can help with many aspects of homeschooling. Read below to learn more about why you should have a homeschool teacher ID card and student ID cards and where to get them.
Why Have A Homeschool ID Card
Do you need an ID card? You can homeschool without one. Many families have before you, and I am sure many will after you. However, there are good reasons to have a homeschool teacher ID card and homeschool student ID cards.
Did you know that you can receive a discount at different stores and locations? We have a list of some of these locations on our Home Educators’ Discount page, but many places near you might offer educational discounts when you show your homeschool ID card. It never hurts to ask!
Proof of Homeschooling
If you need to show you are homeschooling, a homeschool ID might help with that. Not all places that ask for proof will count these, but it can make life easier for those that do!
There might be a few times where your younger homeschoolers need ID but don’t have a license yet. If you include a picture on your homeschool ID, some locations will use this as a photo ID.
Having a homeschool ID can be just for fun. It is a keepsake of your homeschool year that your homeschoolers can look back fondly on and show to their friends.
How To Get Free Homeschool ID Cards
Depending on where and how you homeschool, getting a homeschool ID might be pretty straightforward. Some homeschool programs and support groups can provide homeschool teacher and student ID cards. So check with your homeschooling program and any homeschool support group, homeschool association, or umbrella school that you use.
