The Immigrant’s Experience
Walk through the Jonestown neighborhood and experience the sights and sounds of Lombard Street and learn about the immigrant families that called this neighborhood home. Discover and experience tenement houses, sweatshops, and the outdoor markets that made Lombard Street the lively center for many immigrant families. Step into Maryland’s first synagogue, the Lloyd Street Synagogue, and learn about the different immigrant groups that worshipped inside the building and made it their own.
Enjoy a living history character performance from special guest, Ida Rehr. Hear Ida share her story as a Ukrainian immigrant who worked in Baltimore’s garment industry.
