Today we are going to look at Engineering projects, the third part of STEM. These projects may sound strange at first to families that have only really focused on science projects in the past. However, these are the most common STEM projects you will see across education sites and Pinterest. Get you homeschooler started on their STEM engineering project with the ideas and resources below.

What is a STEM engineering project for kids

An engineering project involves physically creating something to solve a problem. This is accomplished through the engineering process.

What is the engineering process?

For the Online Homeschool STEM Fair, if you want to do an engineering project please follow the engineering process.

What are some cool engineering projects for kids?

Ready to start planning your engineering project? Need some ideas?

The best ones are always ones that help you fix a problem you have. Start brainstorming ideas.

Here are a few examples:

  • How can I keep my juice box from getting warm in my bag?
  • What can I do to help my mom clean the top of the cabinets easier?
  • How can I keep my cat off of my desk?
  • What can I do to keep the deer from eating my sister’s garden?

Need more STEM engineering project ideas?

STEM engineering activities are a great way to tap into your child’s creativity. While at first, they can sound like a lot of work,it doesn’t have to be! Encourage your child to create and explore with an engineering makerspace and other engineering activities for kids

We also have a free makerspace start list for you too!
