So you have decided to homeschool. You have checked out the homeschool laws and contacted homeschool groups. Now you need to decide on a curriculum for your homeschoolers. How do you get the curriculum for your homeschool? Or better yet, how do you find the best curriculum for your homeschooling needs?

Before you get started searching for a curriculum, find out what kind of curriculum you need and assess your homeschool options! We have help on choosing a curriculum plus a free Choosing A Homeschool Curriculum Workbook to assist you.

Choosing A Homeschool Curriculum

Where To Find Curriculum For Your Homeschool

Now that you know what kind of curriculum you need and want, it is time to find it! There are many different places you can search for a curriculum depending on if you wish to buy a new curriculum, used curriculum, or curriculum to fit specific needs you homeschoolers have. Luckily we have resources to help with all that below.

New Homeschool Curriculum

Shiney new curriculum? That is what makes most homeschoolers excited. It leads most of us to have shelves of curriculum that we might not necessarily need, but we just had to buy. I highly recommend checking out the used curriculum section to see if you can save money before purchasing a new curriculum. However, if you can’t find it used or have your heart set on that shiny new curriculum, check out the resources below.

Unless you know exactly what you are looking for, Amazon can be hard to search and find a curriculum. I recommend searching for specific titles that you want here.

Curriculum Express

“Since 1989, Curriculum Express has sold what we believe to be the finest self-instructional curriculum available for private at home education and homeschooling.”

Curriculum Finder | Homeschool.com

Search by subject, grade, category, and format to find the curriculum perfect for your homeschoolers.

Discount School Supply

“Discount School Supply had its beginning in a small retail store selling educational products. Founder Ron Elliott had creative ideas about how he could supply more products to respond to teacher‘s needs. The Discount School Supply catalog was born, the place where you can BUY WHERE TEACHERS BUY®.”

Homeschool Buyers Co-Op

The Homeschool Buyers Co-op is the world’s largest buyers club for homeschooling families. Founded in 2005, we are a family-owned and operated business dedicated to providing top-quality curricula at the lowest price possible.

Homeschool Conventions

Conventions can also be a great place to pick up a new curriculum. Plan or figure it out while you are there. We have tips to help here.

Specific Homeschool Curriculum Needs

Secular Homeschool Curriculum

Special Needs Homeschool Curriculum

Used Homeschool Curriculum

While we all like new things, you can save money by finding a used curriculum. There are a lot of places you can search for a great new-to-you curriculum.

We have a curriculum classifieds group over on Facebook!

This group is for families who want to sell or give away their gently used curriculum, supplies, or educational items their children or teens no longer need, and for other homeschool families to have a way to find these items. Click the image below to join us there!

Used Books Stores

Amazon/ Amazon Storefront

While most people think of Amazon for new items, you can also find a lot of used items as well. I recommend checking out:

The Back Pack

Selling new and used textbooks as well as curriculum packages, science videos, Spanish worksheets, and writing guides.

Better World Books

Find used and new books at better prices. This is a great place to look for gently used textbooks, resource books, and novels for your homeschool.

You can find great deals on eBay, however, it can take some time and careful searching to make sure you are getting something worth your time and money.

Half Price Books

“Waste not, read a lot. That one simple philosophy is the inspiration behind the country’s largest family-owned bookstore chain. But we do more than just read a lot: We buy and sell new and used books, music, movies, games, electronic devices and collectibles in more than 120 stores and growing.”

Second Harvest Curriculum

Let us help you ease the cost by offering our huge selection of quality used home school curriculum. A 30-day money back guarantee is in place if you are not satisfied with the used home-school textbooks you purchase from us.

“ThriftBooks started in 2003 with a pick-up truck of used books stashed in a storage unit, listing books solely on Amazon.com. Our first book sold was the beloved children’s classic, Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White. Over the years, we’ve added regional processing centers across the country and hundreds of employees. Throughout this time, we also built our processes to purchase, grade, and distribute used and rare/collectible books.”

Homeschool Curriculum Swaps

Catholic Curriculum Swap

Here you will find Catholic Materials not usually found in other general and Christian swaps/boards. You will also find popular secular materials.

Classical~Charlotte Mason Material Swap

Secular Homeschool Curriculum Marketplace

“This page is for buying and selling SECULAR homeschool materials. You do not have to be secular to be here, but your ITEMS do. 🙂 There are a multitude of pages on Facebook that sell other types of homeschool materials – if you are selling nonsecular items they belong there, not here.”

Free/Budget Curriculum For Your Homeschool

Let’s face it, homeschoolers love free and cheap! There are so many other educational things that we would rather spend money on so having a list of free and low-cost curriculum is always a great thing. Check out these places to get free and low-cost homeschool resources.
