Arundel Park Riding for Disabled
Arundel Park Riding for Disabled Inc is a not-for-profit that operates from Monday to Saturday. We would like to offer homeschooler’s the opportunity to try their hand at Riding without any weekly commitment, during school hours. We provide opportunities for stimulating and challenging activities, in a safe and understanding environment for riders and non-riders in our exciting, all-encompassing, equestrian situation. Students improve balance, posture, coordination, mobility and flexibility, muscle development, strength, tone, and overall fitness. They gain confidence, self-esteem, and concentration through achievement and enjoyment as well as improve social skills via interaction with volunteers, staff, and peers. They learn to follow directions and make choices while developing emotionally through horse care and interaction.

Following a review of home education legislation in 2003, a new Act was passed by parliament in August 2006. Yet, an estimated 80% of Queensland homeschoolers still aren’t registered. Since the development of the Home Education Unit and new registration process, few families who previously did not have dispensation have decided to become legal homeschoolers.
